Ref Life: in Memory of RDK 2025 Aug 01

As a player, he actually refereed a few of my games. As a referee, he coached, mentored and assigned me. As a person we agreed to disagree on coaching methodology changing over the generations. When it came to player management, he taught me to do what was right for the game at the level of the players and manage events for events. There was a rulebook, but in the printed book era it could flex and bend just like the laws of the game needed to in order to make sure the game had some flow.

I had the video idea after spending some time looking at his photo board with his daughter.

If you knew Keith he’d tell you about his days doing professional indoor. Here is a home game at the Pittsburgh Civic Arena, where he’s working with one of the college assignors of today. At the end of the game you will notice he tosses a few of the give-away balls that the fans throw onto the field back into the crowd.

Keith Devin Renner, 69 of Pittsburgh, passed away on Friday, August 1st, 2025 at the Veterans Affairs Hospital in Oakland, PA. Born August 16th, 1955 in Bethlehem, PA.

Keith was first and foremost a believer in our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, whom he worshipped as a member of Tetelestai church in New Kensington, PA. A Gulf War veteran of the US Navy, Keith honorably served his country in both war and peace, eventually retiring from the Air National Guard. He owned RDK sports Inc, and was a pillar for the PA West soccer community. Keith was a dedicated referee and loved telling players to ‘knock it off’. You could always count on him for a few yellow cards. His passions were soccer, reading, investing, Pittsburgh sports, America, and friends & family. He always had a friend where ever he went, and would love to tell you about them.
