I’m not sure if you know what life as a referee is like or what it is like to get a new referee on-boarded, trained, reinforced and back on the field game after game for the first three years. After 15 seasons, I’ve seen a whole lot and have many tools in my referee tool belt. I’m very protective of newbies. I’m also very challenging to referees that want to climb the ladder to make sure they understand what will be expected of them if they want to develop. Finally US Soccer has taken a new position that hopefully will improve respect for the official community.
This new policy comes into effect on March 1, 2025.
